On a random Tuesday afternoon, I received a “911” call from a new client. Their CEO’s leadership blog was hacked and subsequently crashed, and most of the content was gone. Yep, gone.
During a period of web-support transition, the client found out they didn’t have a full backup of database and files – news you never want to hear. Thankfully, we can work superhero fast when we have a client in distress.
Making it happen
We suggested a customized stock theme to save time. We sorted through options and guided the client to three good, well-coded themes. Once one was chosen, we installed the site and theme. Per the client’s request, we also customized the site’s colors to match the established logo.
By using a limited backup of content and customizing a stock theme, we (Nancy and Sara) were able to get a new blog website up for Ron Kitchens in just one day. We were also able to recover all previously posted content that was once thought lost. Ron was able to publish his very next post according to schedule. His followers were happy, his team was happy, and so were we!
Adding more features
The great thing about designing all of our websites on WordPress is that the site can always grow and change. No one is ever stuck with just the site we launched—adding features down the line is fairly easy and cost-effective.
Following the launch, we further customized the RonKitchens.com site, adding:
- Custom header, email subscribe banner, and quick links on home page
- Email subscribe box in persistent sidebar
- Instagram feed in sidebar
- Social media icon links
- And most recently, a podcast feature
Email newsletter design
We also set up and designed an email newsletter for the blog. This newsletter emails the blog posts and podcasts direct to subscribers when they are posted.
We definitely suggest you subscribe to Ron’s blog for excellent advice on leadership, innovation, and talent.
