Social media marketing is quickly taking the world by storm. Compared to other outlets for marketing, social media tends to be the most cost effective, as well as, the most interactive. Being able to communication with consumers in a back and forth dialogue, developing more of a relationship and being able to quickly promote new products and services are just some of the benefits.
Are you a small business owner looking to revamp your social media campaigns? Or, perhaps, you’re a small business owner just looking for some social media inspiration. You’re in the right place. This year is quickly coming to an end, and we thought we would give you a recap of brands who had killer social media campaigns in 2015!
How does this help you?
Well, simply put, I am going to break it down two different companies. These two companies created a brand identity through their social networks that outshine all the rest, and provided added value to their customers.
#1: Create the “Like-Like” relationship that rewards people for being a part of your social network like Starbucks.
Starbucks is a very socially engaged company. They are successful at social media because they treat their social networks as an extension of their storefronts. Starbucks is active and consistent on many social networks, and continues to convey a strong and cohesive message across the board.
What’s that message? Engage with us and you’ll be rewarded. They’re not pushing an agenda or spamming your newsfeed, rather they are giving you great bang for your buck!
Whether a post pertains to downloading and registering for their free app, which then garners tons of freebies or, something as simple as “buy one, get one 50% off” when a post is shared, their ability to reward their social users is great. It’s a “like-like” relationship. Like us, and get access to exclusive content and deals.
Remember: “Likes” don’t cost a user anything! Make potential clients and customers see the value in liking your page.
Your turn! Within the first month of 2016, create a post that kicks off the “like-like” relationship mentioned above. Give your audience a rewarding reason to engage. Something as simple as being entered into a contest to win something that promotes your brand is a fantastic starting point. And, when you have social media success with this strategy, holler at us! We want to hear about your reward giving techniques.
#2: Keep the “Social” part of Social Media alive. Promote a lifestyle rather than a product like BarkBox.
Why be boring when you can be fun, entertaining and interesting? BarkBox has the whole brand identity thing on lock down. BarkBox is a subscription service based company that caters to dog lovers all over the world!
There are plenty of brands taking up space in the social world who may provide a great social atmosphere. And, while this can be great, if your audience is not gaining value from your community, it’s like a missed high-five. Totally embarrassing.
So how does this work? And why is BarkBox so great at it?
Before BarkBox created their social media tone, they took the time to get to know their audience. Their audience is the totally obsessed, crazy dog lover person. A.K.A. Me.
BarkBox’s goals seem to be inline with the idea of giving their potential customers something they can relate to first. See hilarious pictures below. Than, later, and only occasionally, promoting their products. Don’t get it twisted though, BarkBox is still promoting their brand throughout every post.
Remember: If people feel like they are a part of something they love, they are more likely to share it with people they love. Word of mouth marketing is prime real estate. And, if word of mouth marketing can drive help drive your social media engagement, you’re definitely gaining speed.
One more post from BarkBox because they are so entertaining… 🙂
Your turn! Create a brand identity for your social networks and begin to let that identity seep through each and every post you make. A specific tone, a style of writing or a few unique hashtags will help get the party started.
